GABA (Gamma Aminobutyric Acid) is an amino acid. It has been suggested by
numerous studies that this key amino acid can promote marked increases in plasma
growth hormone levels.
There is a high concentration of this amino acid in the hypothalamus of the
brain. This suggests that GABA may play a highly important role in
hypothalamic-pituitary function. The hypothalamus is a region of the brain that
is known as the regulating center for visceral or instinctive functions. These
functions include sleep cycles, body temperature, and the activity of the

The results from one study at the University of Milan showed a 5.5 fold increase in plasma growth hormone levels 90 minutes after
Gamma Aminobutyric Acid administration. Quoted results from this study showed “In all of the 19 subjects studied, compared with 18 controls, plasma growth hormone levels were significantly increased (above 5 mg/ml) by acute oral administration of 5 grams of GABA.”
